A woman has been taken to hospital with whiplash injuries after being involved in a head-on collision in Somerset. She was in one of two cars which crashed on the A303 westbound between the South Petherton and Southfields Roundabouts on Saturday morning. Darlington manager Dave Penney will give striker Liam Hatch sufficient time to recover from the neck injury he suffered at Droylsden on Tuesday. The number of claims for whiplash injuries following road accidents is soaring, say British insurance firms. The Association of British Insurers (ABI) says that its members receive almost 1,200 claims of this type every day, worth £2bn a year.
